Recently, the most useful advice I’ve received is that I am doing a disservice to myself if I stay in opposition to our current school system.  When I criticize and judge it, I lose my power to do anything about it.  It’s when I simply make a distinction about what works and what doesn’t work (without judgement), that I am empowered to move beyond (include and transcend, as Ken Wilber says), and create something that serves our children.  My focus, therefore, is going to be what works and what is needed, instead of dwelling on what exists and doesn’t work.  It sounds somewhat simplistic, but for me, it’s powerful.
